Leedsware Pierced Creamware Dinner Plate Leeds Pottery England 10.75 Vintage

Back stamp was only used in the mid-1980's when in late 1983 the Leeds City Council created the Leeds Pottery Project Ltd. A back to work/work related skills project for adults with mental health issues or other disabilities recreating items of Leeds Ware from the original 18C and 19C moulds and pattern books. The project was jointly funded by the European Social Fund and Leeds City Council, unfortunately the project closed in 1987 when the funding ceased. However, in 1988 the previous managers acquired the business renamed it the'Leedsware Pottery Company Limited' and moved the manufacture of Leeds Pottery from Jack Lane, Leeds (very close to the site of the original 18C Leeds Pottery factory) to Stoke on Trent (often referred to as The Potteries) in Staffordshire, England.

In excellent condition - there is crazing - see photo close-up. Hand-pressed from a mold, it has exquisite piercings and a beaded edge. The underside is marked LEEDS POTTERY (impressed) made in England with leaf mark.
