Marples Chisels Set of 7 Vintage Marples Long Pairing Gouges Sheffield England

This is a beautiful set of 7 vintage Marples Shamrock long paring gouges, hand forged in Sheffield England. The graduated, London Pattern, boxwood handles are close to mint condition, with the Marples branding logos all present and un-faded, like new. The stamps on the blades and the handle logos indicate that they are around 60 years old. Two of the ferrules have split during storage, but could be replaced with some skill and effort. The near full length blades have sporadic patches of pitting that mainly affect the unused side of the chisel and some will require sharpening.

The larger sized blades have stamped numbers to indicate the curvature, I think. The two smallest seem to have the same width, but a different curvature.

Sets with these handles are now scarce and probably of interest to a professional woodworker or collector with some skill in restoration.
