This is a Record 06 Fore Plane, the "type 1" of the Record planes, from the 1930s. It carries the early frog type and has Rosewood handles. It has the two piece cap iron and matching lever cap, and is the design used by the modern Clifton planes. I have lightly cleaned this one. All small parts have been oiled.
The handles are solid and have been given a rub down and a few coats of shellac. The rear was taken from a donor plane (a 4 1/2 of the same vintage and make) as the original rear handle had an old repair. This one has a mark along the top where the old lateral lever rubbed against it. No such issues with this one however. The body has been lightly lapped but I didn't go hell-for-leather on flattening it as it already looks pretty flat and the patina is nice. The native cutter (an early Record one by my reckoning) is short ish so I have included a barely used, Stanley cutter in the sale.
